Welcome to the Blinn College Institutional Review Board (IRB). The Blinn College IRB exists as a safeguard to promote the ethical and responsible treatment of human participants in research, and to encourage research within Blinn College. All research projects at Blinn College that involve human participants, including revisions, must be submitted to the IRB for consideration per administrative policy.
The Blinn College Institutional Review Board reviews human participant research to ensure that:
- The rights and welfare of human participants are protected.
- Risks have been considered and minimized.
- Potential benefits have been identified and maximized.
- All potential participants are being provided with legally effective informed consent.
- All research is completed in an ethical manner, and in compliance with established standards.
- All private information is kept confidential.
About the Blinn College IRB
The Blinn College IRB is composed of faculty members, administrators, and experienced researchers from the community. The human participants review process is administered through the Office of Academic Affairs.
FERPA guidelines protect private information about students at Blinn College. Requests for all student information must go through the Blinn College Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Enrollment Management (IEEM). Approval of your IRB research application does not mean that data from IEEM will be made available to you.
